Today, citizens are bombarded with abundant of
campaigns that persuade people to stop smoking. The production and sale of
cigarettes not only has negative impact on human health, it can even cause
death. Cigarettes contains over 4,000 chemicals, that is cancer-causing and toxins.
Ingredients in the cigarettes affect everything from the internal organs to the
efficiency of the immune system. This are the main reasons why the production
and sale of cigarettes must be prohibited.
Many
people do not understand how dangerous smoking is, and people who smoke do not
even recognize how serious problems can cause. People smoke because they say it
makes them feel good, but the real fact is, nicotine in the bloodstream acts to
make the smoker calm. Most of the chemical inhaled in cigarette smoke stays in
the lungs. The more you inhale, the better it feels but the greater damage to
your lungs. In other words, it is slowly killing you at the same time.
In
this century, teenagers are the most affected population. Most of them tried
their first tobacco in a young age and it felt great. They tend to continue as
they feel it did not affect any parts of their body at the moment. They totally
don’t understand the effect of smoking. Teenagers smoke just to have fun, and
it’s probably cool to them among their peers. They will also tend to hide their
smoking habits from their parents, or they will be in trouble. All these are
negative doings. It is bad for their growing stages.
There
are people who do not agree with the idea of making the production and sale of
cigarettes to be illegal. Opponents of the idea claim that every person has the
right to buy and smoke cigarettes because it is part of freedom. They do not
think of how cigarettes will harm many people, even those that are walking
distance away, who inhale the smoke they exhaled. Supporters of the idea that
the production and sale of cigarettes should be made illegal are very
persuasive. Firstly, parents will not want their children to smoke, because
they will always want the best for their kids. Smoking is a very bad example
for kids and youth because when they see adults smoking everywhere it begins to
seen to them that it is normal and they would probably start to imitate this
kind of behavior. All these will be harmful to them.
In
conclusion, the production and sale of cigarettes should be made illegal as
soon as possible. There are no benefits in smoking at all. Many people are
already dead because of cigarettes, and it’s saddening. People should be more
responsible for their health and health of their loved ones before it’s too
late.
